Industrial Maintenance Technician III - 1st Shift

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Lead advanced troubleshooting and repair of complex electrical, PLC-controlled, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

* Support and maintain automated manufacturing systems, including PLCs, robotics, HMIs, and safety circuits.

* Monitor, troubleshoot, and diagnose PLC-controlled processes locally and remotely via secure VPN connections.

* Edit, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC ladder logic and automation handshaking between equipment.

* Support robotic operations and integration, including Panasonic and Motoman robotic systems interfaced with PLCs.

* Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems using schematics, multimeters, amp probes, and insulation testers (Megger).

* Evaluate equipment performance and implement continuous improvement modifications to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.

* Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions for recurring equipment issues.

* Support production line repairs and breakdowns involving electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and robotic systems.

* Identify, source, and implement suitable replacement parts for obsolete or unsupported equipment.

* Support new equipment installation, commissioning, diagnostics, and validation.

* Maintain detailed documentation, work logs, PM schedules, and equipment updates within the CMMS.

* Serve as a technical mentor and subject-matter expert for Maintenance Technician I and II employees.

* Perform all work in compliance with company safety policies, including Arc Flash, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, and Fall Protection requirements.

* Provide own required tools and work mandatory overtime as required.

* Perform additional duties as assigned.

Equipment & Technology Proficiency (Technician III)

Expert-level proficiency with advanced industrial systems and equipment, including:

* Automation & Controls: PLCs, HMIs, safety relays, sensors, encoders, light curtains, and control networks

* PLC Platforms: ABB, Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley, Direct Logic, Control Technology Corporation

* Robotics & Automation: Industrial robotic cells including Panasonic and Motoman integration

* Drives & Motion Control: Servo systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motors, and feedback devices

* Electrical Systems: Control panels, electrical circuit design, wiring, diagnostics, and troubleshooting

* Presses & Fabrication Equipment: Mechanical and hydraulic presses, press brakes, punches, and shears

* Laser Equipment: CNC laser cutting systems and supporting automation

* Mechanical Systems: Pumps, compressors, bearings, gearboxes, and drive assemblies

* Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Valves, cylinders, regulators, and control circuits

* Welding & Fabrication: Light fabrication, welding, cutting, and hand tool use

* Computer Systems: CMMS, PLC programming software, diagnostics tools, and industrial networking

Qualifications

Education

* High school diploma or equivalent required.

* Technical degree, advanced apprenticeship, or equivalent industrial automation experience preferred.

Experience

* Extensive experience in industrial maintenance with advanced automation, PLC, and robotic systems.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

* Advanced ability to troubleshoot and modify PLC ladder logic and automation systems.

* Proven experience with electrical control panel wiring and system design per electrical schematics.

* Advanced troubleshooting of servo systems, VFDs, sensors, motors, and safety devices.

* Strong predictive and preventive maintenance expertise.

* Ability to commission, diagnose, and optimize new and existing automated equipment.

* Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, ladder logic, blueprints, and technical manuals.

* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on the majority of tasks.

* Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.

* Excellent documentation, record-keeping, and PM program development skills.

* Effective verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.

* Ability to train, mentor, and develop other maintenance technicians.

* Strong sense of urgency, accountability, and professionalism.

* Basic math proficiency.

Training & Certifications

Required / Company-Provided Training Includes (but is not limited to):

* Aerial Lifts (Boom, Scissor, Manlift, Forklift)

* Overhead Crane Operations

* Arc Flash, Confined Space, and Fall Protection Training
