Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Regularly review the operation of plant equipment and systems, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Effectively communicate with crew from previous shift and with the crew of the following shift.

  • Prioritize daily workload and assign work to Technicians as needed; following-up on rush requests.

  • Work with Maintenance Manger on daily duties, expectations, and carrying out job plans.

  • Work with Maintenance Planner on issuing daily PMs to technicians.

  • Work closely with Production Supervisors, Production Leads, and production crews.

  • Oversee all aspects of the Preventive Maintenance program including scheduling, assigning and tracking progress/completion. (Little Chute only)

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production.

  • Perform mechanic duties; including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting, and repair of packaging and production machines.

  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments as needed.

  • Complete and maintain records and logs in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Perform buildings and grounds maintenance and up-keep as needed; [including snow removal (Little Chute only)], changing light bulbs and filters, etc.

  • Train and mentor new Maintenance Technicians as needed, [keeping training documents updated (Little Chute only)].

  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and requirements.

  • Responsible for food safety and quality.

  • Act as back up for Maintenance Manager related to food safety and quality.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Regular contact with suppliers and vendors as well as occasional contact with regulatory agencies for inspections.

  • Stay current in field and utilize that information where practical.

  • Operate equipment including but not limited to the following: welders, drills, saws, grinders, wrenches and screwdrivers, punches and presses, rollers, hoists, jacks, cars, forklifts, man lifts, ladders, testers, chemical test kits, plant-specific machinery.

  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.

  • Safety Protocol

    • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.

    • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.

    • Support safety policies and programs.

Qualifications:

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Technical School Degree or coursework in boiler, welding, electrical and HVAC preferred.

  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum six (6) years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude required.

  • Experience reading and understanding electrical prints and troubleshooting electrical circuits required.

  • Experience with three phase motors, transformers, and control circuits required.

  • Experience in a fluid processing environment preferred.

  • Experience with reading electrical and PID drawings preferred.

  • Experience with basic welding, including stainless steel welding preferred.

Certification/Licensure Required:

  • Forklift Certification preferred.
