Cable Technician I - Entry Level Location: Barker, NY 14012 Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (4-6 Month Contract Duration) Pay Rate: $19-$22/hr Start Date: April 12th 2026 About the Opportunity IES Commercial, Inc. is hiring Entry-Level Cable Technicians to support a major data center construction project. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals coming from a low-voltage trade school or candidates looking to begin a career in structured cabling, telecommunications, or data center infrastructure. You'll work on a highprofile Data Center build with ongoing opportunities for advancement. IES is known for promoting from within and offering cross-training across multiple departments including telecom, security, and communications. Responsibilities * Pull, route, and install low-voltage cabling * Assist Level II Technicians * Handle and transport materials on-site * Use basic hand and power tools * Climb ladders and work comfortably at heights * Install wireway, bus duct, cable tray, switches, receptacles, and related components * Build telecom closets: * Install backboards, racks, patch panels, fiber hardware * Perform grounding work for racks/equipment * Complete all IDC terminations (110/66 blocks, patch panels) * Assist or oversee conduit installation and wire pulls * Safely operate tools such as cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and others requiring two-hand operation Required Skills & Qualifications * Entry-level experience or graduation from a low-voltage/telecom trade school * Reliable transportation to the Temple, TX site * Comfortable working at heights * Ability to lift 40 lbs * Valid driver's license * Must have (or be able to obtain): * OSHA 10 * Scissor lift certification (preferred) Required Personal Tools Screwdriver set, drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips w/ sheath, needle-nose & channellock pliers, hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves. Work Environment & Schedule * Location: Data Center * Schedule: * Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM - 5:45 PM * Will ramp up to 5O10 hour shifts per week * Dress Code: * Steeltoe boots required * PPE (vest, gloves, safety glasses) provided by IES Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Barker, NY.
