OVERVIEW: The Hydrographic Technician III is an expert Hydrographic Survey field crew member responsible for performing various duties such as assisting with field data collection in various marine environments using modern techniques and survey vessel operation.

DURING YOUR WORK DAY, YOU WILL:



  • Perform various duties as part of a Hydrographic Survey crew.
  • Assist with field data collection in various marine environments using modern techniques and survey vessel operation.
  • Acquire data using multibeam, single beam, side scan, and magnetometer.
  • Perform safe small vessel operations.
  • Responsible for towing and backing trailers.
  • Responsible for basic boat maintenance.
  • Complete assigned tasks while complying with established field procedures.
  • Use proper safety equipment and follows proper field safety procedures.
  • Responsible for the safety and care of the crew, vehicles, equipment, and the public's interest.
  • Walk for long periods of time through all kinds of terrain, uneven ground, and sometimes water.
  • Requires periodic travel, both in and out of state, and often irregular schedules including working during weekends.



WHAT YOU'LL NEED:



  • USCG license is required.
  • 5 years of professional hydrographic survey experience.
  • 5 years' experience working on boats and in the coastal environment.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED and technical school training in hydrography.
  • Small vessel operation experience is required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain TWIC card.
  • Proficiency in Hypack software is required.
  • CAD experience is required.
  • Individuals must not be susceptible to seasickness.
  • The ability to work alone but also effectively as part of a team is required.
  • Strong problem-solving, functional, and technical skills.
  • Requires excellent communication, and the ability to take and understand directives.
  • The ability to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying project demands is required.
  • Ability to perform field work, including travel (50 to 70%), weekends, holidays, and the physical ability to lift objects over 50 lbs.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record, cleared background check and negative drug test result.
