The Digital Access Technology Librarian plays a vital role in connecting our community to library resources through technology, interlibrary loan services, and user-centered design. This position combines technical expertise with service excellence to enhance how users discover, access and engage with library collections and services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree from an ALA-accredited institution
  • 3+ years experience working in a library setting
  • Working experience with integrated library systems and discovery interfaces
  • Working experience with interlibrary loan/document delivery systems, workflows, and policies
  • Strong user-centered service orientation
  • Proficiency with MS Office and/or Google Suites, and Adobe products
  • Proficiency with HTML/CSS and related web concepts
  • Knowledge of library resources, Springshare software, and online learning management systems
  • Ability to set priorities and organize information effectively
  • Ability to learn new skills and adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent communication, situational awareness, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work respectfully with others

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates with experience in any of these additional areas OR interest in developing such skills are encouraged to apply.

  • Knowledge of user-centered design and/or user experience (UX) evaluation
  • Experience with web languages and development, including JavaScript, and/or XML in relation to customizing library interfaces, managing data integrations, and automating library workflows
  • Knowledge of accessibility practices such as universal design and Web Content
  • Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Management of Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

  • Oversee all aspects of Interlibrary Loan
  • Process all digital lending and borrowing requests, and fill physical requests on the Philadelphia campus
  • Complete any document delivery requests
  • Work with Public Services team across all campuses to ensure physical loans are completed
  • Ensure all ILL software is updated and working as needed
  • Work with campus mail room to ensure ILL items are sent and received efficiently and billing is correct
  • Keep all ILL data accurate in library ILS (FOLIO)
  • Report all ILL statistics to Associate Director for annual report and other accreditation requirements

2. Digital Access

  • Collaborate with systems librarian and resource management team to ensure the quality of digital access
  • Oversee the library's use of Springshare products, including LibGuides, LibCal and LibInsight
  • Manage the library's integration with the campus' LMS, Blackboard
  • Organize and implement training for library employees on new library technologies

3. User Experience

  • Develop, plan and coordinate regular user studies regarding access to library resources
  • Monitor ongoing access and usage patterns for potential enhancement
  • Coordinate data gathering on the use of library resources, spaces and web presence
  • Assist data analysis and development of reports

4. Public Services

  • Staff circulation desk as needed
  • Engage in library outreach events regarding resource sharing and access
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of digital access issues

5. Miscellaneous

  • Participate in collection development
  • Provide input into library strategic planning
  • Own professional development
  • Serve on college-wide committees as needed
  • Participate in other duties as assigned by library leadership team

Starting Salary:$60,000 annually

The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
