Financial Support Analyst
Preventive & Restorative Dental Sciences (PRDS) Department
Job Summary This Financial Support Analyst will provide support, including basic financial and resource analysis, to the Preventive & Restorative Dental Sciences (PRDS) Department at the Parnassus Campus. This role will involve working with our purchasing systems and resolving issues for others who are procuring, ordering, or having payment inquiries. Will review backup information for these actions and advise and interpret policy. The Financial Analyst will serve as a point of contact for our clients, including residents, faculty, and staff who support the school's operational needs.
This role will ensure the creation of purchase orders (POs), the preparation of correct journal entries, the maintenance of the master chart of accounts, and the creation of new speedtypes for payments. They will assist the Department with SOD Budget planning, encompassing annual faculty renewal. They will submit UCPath Funding Entry and Salary Cost Transfers changes for faculty, staff, and residents. The Financial Support Analyst will manage cash/ check deposits, parking codes, and assist with activities as requested to meet business needs.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $25.29 - $53.64 (Step Hourly Rate). We provide comprehensive oral health care services with over 120,000 patient visits per year. We offer a four-year DDS program as well as a two-year program for international dentists that culminates in the DDS degree. We have numerous specialty residencies, PhD and Master's degree programs in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences, a combined DDS-PhD program, and a combined PhD-dental specialty training program. Other graduate programs include Craniofacial and Mesenchymal Biology and Bioengineering, and a DDS/MBA program. The School is one of the preeminent oral and craniofacial research enterprises in the world, ranking number one in National Institute of Health funding for 26 consecutive years.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting or equivalent experience/training.
- Basic knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
- Acquiring ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
- Basic proficiency using spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
- Basic interpersonal skills; broad service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Under management guidance, uses organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to function as a member of a team.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat; and WordPress for HTML,
- Demonstrated record of reliability and excellent attendance
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months plus of related experience
- Knowledge of UC Accounting practices, purchasing and reimbursement
- Experience working in an academic environment;
- Prior Experience with BearBuy, MyExpense
- Prior Experience working directly with research faculty
- Working knowledge of Excel to create spreadsheets.
