What to Expect
Tesla's Megafactory is looking for a highly skilled and motivated New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering Technician who will be responsible for ensuring a seamless launch of the newest Energy products and sub-components.
What You'll Do
Support Engineering teams in early prototyping product phases and provide iterative feedback toward continuous product improvement objectives to ensure program success Responsible for high quality activities, including self-inspection, and thorough inspection of the process in its entirety Communicates test results, ideas, and problems to supervisor and engineers; able to be part of the solution Typically involves a variety of operations (including troubleshooting and rework) requiring a sufficient understanding of the functional operation of the items assembled as well as the finished product Perform varying degrees (basic to complex) of electro-mechanical assembly work and be able to work independently once a task is assigned, make connections with other employees, and work fluidly with the team to achieve great results Support trials of new parts and materials to ensure seamless production implementation Support the NPI team during all phases of product introduction (launch and sustaining)
What You'll Bring
- Responsible for preparing materials and tools for performing NPI builds, trialing new materials and maintaining the various NPI core functions to a high standard
- Execute efficiently against provided instructions, self-validate work for accuracy, check the quality of previous operations, and meet critical deadlines
- Provide constructive feedback, define/iterate standard work, and suggest process improvements
- Support field investigations, instrumented/non-Plan of Record builds, and unique projects in support of our cross-functional teams
- This role includes hands-on product build validation, collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure factory and line readiness as well as ensuring critical timelines are met through effective execution of key milestones
- Experience with hand tools, machine tools, and use of semi-automated and automated manufacturing equipment is necessary Significant experience in (1) or more - electrical, automotive, energy and/or mechanical areas is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, arm protection, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines

Expected Compensation
$21.96 - $45.36/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
