| Essential Job Duties |
The Business Officer administers and manages the business, financial, and human resources operations of the department, facilitating and complementing the Department Head's leadership and objectives by setting business standards and practices, and clearly communicating policy interpretation and changes. The Business Officer works independently with a high degree of accuracy and minimal supervision, overseeing the department's financial, human resource, and administrative functions. This position reports directly to the Department Head, with a dotted line reporting to the Assistant Dean for Financial Administration and the Assistant Dean for Human Resources Administration

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

- Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and university policies, procedures, and regulations, with a strong commitment to continuous learning. Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures.
- Proven ability to maintain exceptional attention to detail, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information with accuracy and discretion.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, maintain a high degree of accuracy, and take ownership of assigned functional areas.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as an engaged and collegial member of departmental and college-wide teams to support institutional initiatives and goals.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, including identifying non-routine issues, developing action plans, and implementing effective solutions.
- Commitment to best practices in business operations, with strong accounting experience, including budget management, financial transaction processing, monitoring, and reconciliation.
- Experience overseeing human resources and administrative functions, including demonstrated supervisory experience.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with strong management, analytical, organizational, and planning abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and initiative.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
