Job Description

Position Summary:

The Quality Supervisor supports the Quality Manager in maintaining and executing the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for day-to-day supervision of quality operations, ensuring product and process conformity, audit readiness, and effective implementation of quality procedures on the manufacturing floor.

The Quality Supervisor provides hands-on leadership to quality personnel, ensures inspection and documentation activities are performed accurately and consistently, and supports corrective action, audit activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position typically supervises 3-5 quality technicians.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Quality System Execution & Compliance

  • Support the maintenance and effective implementation of the Quality Management System in accordance with AS9100, NADCAP, and applicable customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure quality procedures, work instructions, and records are followed and maintained as objective evidence of compliance.
  • Support internal, external, customer, and NADCAP audits; assist with preparation, execution, and timely closure of assigned audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Ensure document control and record retention requirements are followed within quality operations.

Product & Process Conformity

  • Supervise daily incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities to ensure product conformity prior to release.
  • Ensure First Article Inspections (FAI per AS9102) are completed accurately and on time.
  • Ensure inspection plans, control plans, and acceptance criteria are followed at the point of use.
  • Monitor inspection results and escalate trends or risks to the Quality Manager.

Nonconformance &Corrective Action Support

  • Ensure nonconforming material is properly identified, segregated, documented, and dispositioned in accordance with AS9100 requirements.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys).
  • Verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions within quality operations.

NADCAP & Special Process Oversight

  • Support compliance with NADCAP requirements for applicable special processes, including heat treat, pyrometry, and AMS 2750.
  • Verify calibration status of inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Ensure inspection personnel and operators are trained and qualified per NADCAP and customer requirements.
  • Assist with audit preparation, evidence collection, and response development.

Customer & Supplier Quality Support

  • Support customer quality activities, including data collection, nonconformance responses, and audit preparation.
  • Assist with supplier quality activities as assigned, including receiving inspection, documentation review, and corrective action follow-up.

Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report quality metrics such as nonconformance trends, inspection yield, and audit findings.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction, process control, and audit readiness.
  • Participate in cross-functional problem-solving and improvement activities.

Team Supervision and Training

  • Supervise, train, and coach quality inspectors and technicians to ensure competency and compliance.
  • Ensure training records, certifications, and competency evaluations are current and properly documented.
  • Promote a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Quality team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in quality or inspection roles within aerospace or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102 (FAI), NADCAP, SPC, GD&T, and inspection methodologies.
  • Experience supporting audits and corrective action activities.
  • Familiarity with pyrometry, AMS 2750, calibration systems, or special processes preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this role, with reasonable accommodations available as needed.

  • Regular presence on the manufacturing floor to support inspection, audits, and process verification.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Visual acuity required for inspection, documentation review, and measurement activities.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to airborne particles and vibration.
  • Combination of office and shop-floor work required to support quality operations and audit activities.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $90,000.00 to $110,000.00 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
