As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram are invited to soar to new heights in scenic adventure aboard Juneau's top attraction. We offer locals and visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking Alaska scenery, explore the miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, and learn more about Alaska Native culture. Summary: Responsible for administrative support services provided to all departmental operations of the Tramway.
Responsibilities
Job Duties:
- Directs and/or performs administrative support services, including accounting and reconciliation of operational revenues and expenditures.
- Reviews and processes personnel and payroll documents.
- Responsible for provision of office supplies and equipment, and related functions.
- Responsible for providing lower terminal office management services and giving technical direction to parallel staff located at the upper facilities.
- Assists the Tramway's senior management with identifying (and budgeting for) resource needs, including employee training and development.
- Maintains all personnel files and documents in accordance with standard practices, federal and state requirements.
- Knowledge and familiarity with and interprets the subsidiary personnel policy for application to employee situations and issues; is the key contact person while interacting with corporate HR staff and ensuring the confidentiality of HR matters.
- In accordance with technical direction from the corporate accounting managers, enters, balances, and reconciles accounts for all operating departments at the Tramway.
- Assists in monitoring operating expenditures against approved budgets, calling attention to variances.
- Responsible for daily cash handling and bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll, accounts payables, and accounts receivables; key contact person with corporate accounting managers and staff, ensuring compliance with corporate reporting requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Supervises the Tramway Receptionist, ensuring excellent customer service response and telephone communication with and between staff. Directs workload and work schedule, balancing against needs of operating staff and managers.
- Assists with special projects.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
- Ability to work all different shifts including holidays and weekends.
- Ability to handle stress under pressure.
- Ability to provide quality customer service.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, maintain and reconcile accounts, both revenue and expenditures; implement and monitor accounting guidelines, and direct the overall accounting effort.
- Working knowledge of accounting practices and cash handling.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in stressful situations.
- Skill in operating personal computer utilizing a variety of computer software, and other office equipment and systems.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis.
- Ability to learn human resource regulations and requirements.
- Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six (6) months of lead/supervisory clerical experience.
- Two (2) years of journey level bookkeeping experience; OR
- Associate's degree in accounting or bookkeeping may substitute for one year of experience.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check
- Drug testing may be required.
Preferred Qualifications (education, experience, skills):
- Associate's degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping; AND
- Three (3) years of bookkeeping experience.
- Current CPR and first aid certifications.
Working Conditions Standard office environment as part of an aerial tramway and lift operation at a 1800 ft. elevation; constant exposure to extreme heights, and periodic exposure to dangerous equipment during emergency evacuations or power failures. There is constant public interaction and communication. The Tram is a non-smoking facility with designated outside smoking areas.
