About the Job

Athletic Professional 1 - Compliance (8311AC)

Essential Functions:
1. Work with the Executive Director of Athletics Compliance to perform various audits and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with NCAA, CSC and B1G rules. These duties include but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing recruiting and phone call logs from coaches
  • Reviewing CARA (countable athletically related activity) logs for compliance with NCAA limits
  • Data entry into compliance software to comply with NCAA rules
  • Auditing and monitoring of social media for compliance with NCAA rules.
  • Monitor compliance with roster limits of assigned teams
  • Observe practices and competitions for NCAA hour limits and personnel rules.
  • Other duties as assigned

2. Under direct support from the Executive Director and other members of the athletic compliance office, serve as a compliance liaison for multiple assigned sport(s) programs These duties include:

  • Developing educational items for the athletics department staff and student-athletes.
  • Present rules education.
  • Review documentation for continuing and incoming student-athletes. Ensuring that all forms have been completed and identifying any potential items for follow-up.
  • Review sport program documentation for compliance with NCAA and institutional regulations.
  • Research NCAA and B1G/WCHA rules to provide answers to coaches, staff and student-athletes.
  • File waivers and violations with the NCAA.
  • Assist the Senior Associate Director of Compliance for Scholarships with financial aid for assigned sports.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four (4) years.
  • 497Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to monitor and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA, CSC and B1G rules
  • Computer, word processing and database experience
  • Demonstrated highest level of integrity and professionalism
  • Experience in having worked collegiality in a diverse environment
  • Experience with social media (e.g. X, Instagram, Facebook)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Full-time or internship experience in Athletic Compliance

The mission of the University's Atheltic Compliance office is to maintain institutional control of Intercollegiate Athletics and protect the integrity of the University by fostering a strong culture
of compliance through comprehensive educational programming, development of a service oriented proactive approach and a vigilant self-reporting system. We are dedicated to enforcing adherence to the rules and regulations of the NCAA, the Big Ten Conference and the Western Collegiate Hockey Association by our student-athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $53,497 - $63,100 annually, ($25.71 - $30.33 per hour,) depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
