Could you be the full-time Mechanical Traction Design Engineer in West Mifflin, PA, US we're looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your mechanical engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You'll work alongside collaborative and innovative teammates worldwide. You'll contribute to the development and Mechanical Integration of Traction System Products (Traction & Auxiliary Converters, and High Voltage Boxes) and related maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) commitments. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (such as Procurement, Industrialization, Quality, and Manufacturing), conduct and participate in design reviews, support continuous improvement initiatives-and much more.

We'll look to you for:



  • Performing 3D modeling, preparing technical documents, providing design annotations, and creating 2D deliverables in compliance with QCD commitments and established processes.
  • Modeling equipment in alignment to allocated volumes and interfaces for traction and auxiliary products.
  • Conducting detailed design on internal subsystems.
  • Requirement management and ensuring compliance with requirements such as allocated volumes, weight, interfaces, and applicable industry standards.
  • Preparing documentation for Design Reviews and supporting Project Design Gates.
  • Checking the quality of detailed design documentation, drawings, and subcontractors' designs.
  • Realizing and maintaining the Engineering Bill of Material.
  • Planning and leading Mechanical Design activities for assigned projects, ensuring deliverables adhere to customer and project requirements.


All about you

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in traction mechanical engineering (transportation industry desired).
  • Knowledge of 3D/2D CAD software, such as AutoCAD, and Catia V5 (knowledge of Catia V5 is mandatory).
  • Familiarity with MS Office tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with third parties (e.g., customers, sub-contractors).
  • Resilience and adaptability to work in a dynamic engineering environment.
  • Time management and multitasking skills.
  • Structured and organized with a hands-on approach.
  • Ability to analyze and implement change requests.
  • Capable of working cross-functionally with project core teams.
  • Experience and willingness to work with global teams, levering expert-level support at other traction design sites.
  • English proficiency for reading, writing, and participating in technical meetings.
