Nurse Extern-H4I4-Contingent-Midnights-Detroit

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent OR currently enrolled in the Henry Ford Health Early College Program
• Meets the completion of two clinical rotations as required at an accredited school of nursing.
• Enrolled in an accredited school of nursing.
• The completion of two clinical rotations, one of which must be Med/Surg (in an acute care setting).
• To remain in the extern role, you MUST:

1) Actively be enrolled in a nursing program.

2) Successfully complete each course.

3) Provide transcripts to Nurse Manager after each semester/term.

4) Provide a copy of your plan of work to your Nurse Manager.

• If at any point the extern does not meet their academic institution's standard for continued enrollment in the school of nursing classes, their employment as an extern will be rescinded.
• Position is time limited. a. ADN: Maximum 12 months for ADN. b. BSN: Maximum 24 months for BSN (adjust for Part Time BSN programs).
• May complete during orientation.
• Successful completion of 180-day introductory period required to achieve knowledge of policies relative to job duties and patient care unit.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Current Health Care Provider Certification Required.
