Job Description




As a Security Officer - Unarmed Patrol in Springfield, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal at a government location as an unarmed patrol officer, where you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and maintain a visible presence that helps to deter security-related incidents. You will document observations, communicate clearly with site staff and visitors, and provide a customer-focused experience while supporting a team that values agility, reliability, innovation, and integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors and staff at a government location by following site-specific procedures and/or access requirements, and by communicating directions and assistance as needed.
  • Respond to incidents, requests for assistance, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and notify site contacts and/or emergency services when appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Monitor assigned areas for unusual conditions, policy violations, and/or maintenance issues, and report observations through required verbal notifications and written documentation.
  • Complete required activity logs, incident reports, and shift briefings, and support security-related emergency response activities as directed by post orders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A state, county, or city issued security-related license is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
