The Role in Brief:

Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will be a part of the accounting team, reporting to the Assistant Controller, and will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records in conformity with US GAAP across a multi-entity organization. This position supports general ledger accounting, including preparing journal entries, reconciling bank and balance sheet accounts, supporting month-end close processes, and audit preparation while ensuring day-to-day accounting integrity.

The position is based out of EAB's Washington, DC office.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Perform month-end closing responsibilities including preparing monthly journal entries for various accounts
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and develop action plans and lead resolution on accounts
  • Manage cash-related transactions, including daily banking activity monitoring across multiple entities and currencies
  • Ensure expenses are recognized in the correct period by calculating and reviewing for accruals
  • Oversee the maintenance of fixed and intangible asset schedules
  • Adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (US GAAP) and company procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive automation and process improvements
  • Providing analysis and research as needed to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Maintain detailed documentation of financial transactions and reports for audit purposes
  • Ad-hoc requests and special projects.


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • One to two years of business experience with a focus on accounting, financial reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, or auditing is preferred
  • General understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical and organization skills with high attention to details
  • Ability to independently manage and prioritize workload while handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (VLookups, Sumifs, Pivot Tables, etc.).


Ideal Qualifications:



  • Progress toward professional certification (CPA, CMA, CFA, etc.)
  • Two to three years of experience in public accounting or corporate accounting
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
  • High level of commitment and integrity

Compensation:

The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $65,000 - $70,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not be limited to relevant experience, skills, and location. At EAB, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the starting salary range for their role.

This hire will additionally be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
