We are seeking a highly motivated Energy Engineer to support campus-wide energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives. This role evaluates building and central utility system performance, develops energy conservation measures (ECMs), and collaborates with campus partners to implement impactful improvements.
This position blends hands-on system optimization with data-driven analysis, capital project integration, and strategic planning. It is ideal for engineers with experience in building HVAC systems and/or central utility plant efficiency who are eager to expand their technical expertise within a dynamic campus energy management environment. • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective actions in collaboration with Maintenance and Utilities teams.
  • Translate complex technical data into clear, actionable reports and presentations for technical teams and university leadership.
  • Integrate energy efficiency standards and sustainability objectives into capital project designs and renovation initiatives.

  • Establish and support energy performance targets, including Energy Use Intensity (EUI) benchmarks, energy modeling requirements, and commissioning standards.
  • Lead campus-wide initiatives, including ECO-Mode implementation, smart scheduling optimization, laboratory efficiency improvements, and retro-commissioning (RCx) programs.
  • Develop, implement, and support institutional energy policies, including temperature setpoints, ventilation standards, and technical design specifications.

Other Responsibilities

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Energy Management and the other units within the Facilities division.
  • Support the development of campus energy management standards, design guidelines, and technical specifications to ensure consistency across projects.
  • Support development and implementation of institutional energy policies (e.g., temperature setpoint standards, after-hours HVAC policies, lab ventilation standards).
