CASE ANALYST - LAW

Department of Law

Division of Labor

Number of Positions: 1

(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Starting Salary: $69,684.00

(New hires are paid the starting rate. Current employees' pay rate is determined by their job title and years of service.)

Under general supervision, maintains case files, conducts initial review of cases, and generates case reports, and performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

* Dockets all labor hearing dates, including arbitration, medical mediations, and Labor Board cases

* Conducts initial review of cases and summarizes relevant issues

* Dockets and distributes daily mail and court filings for the Labor Division, including by scanning or emailing or as otherwise directed

* Opens, maintains, updates, and closes cases using various available computerized systems (e.g., Litify, Box)

* Summarizes information in legal documents

* Collects and organizes information and legal documents to respond to subpoenas and requests for information

* Maintains documents for motions, pleadings, and claims

* Indexes and files court documents for record keeping purposes

* Trains attorneys and staff and troubleshoots problems on computerized systems (e.g., Litify, Box, court dockets, case portals, or case filing systems)

* Generates various monthly reports of open, pending, or closed cases and any other reports on cases as directed (e.g., individual attorney caseloads, opened and closed cases by venue, case load by venue, or reports responsive to different requests)

* Monitors and tracks attorney caseloads

* Maintains a case numbering log for the purpose of assigning case numbers to new matters that arrive without numerical designations

* Maintains a log for open and closed cases

* Prepares case files and folders for new matters

* Conduct conflict searches for monthly Arbitration calendar and organizes and maintains a filing system for archived calendars

* Routes Case Management cards sent by the Circuit Court and other legal documents with insufficient addressee information

* Conducts name and case searches and responds to case inquiries from various Law Department divisions, City departments, and the public

* Serves as a liaison between attorneys and other divisions or departments as needed

* Works on special labor-related or other Labor Division projects as required

* Performs related tasks as needed

Additional duties may be required for this position

Location: 2 N. La Salle

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE

Qualifications

Six (6) years of administrative work experience.

OR

Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS four (4) years of administrative work experience.

OR

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS two (2) years of administrative experience.

OR

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree of higher in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS one (1) year of administrative experience.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise and/or a skills assessment test as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
