THE POSITION

NOTE: This posting will close on MARCH 20, 2026 or after 50 applications are received, whichever occurs first.

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is seeking a dependable and motivated Equipment Operator B to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting and delivering applications, documents, mail, license plates, and other essential materials between the Riverfront Office Center, nearby Harrisburg facilities, and Driver License Centers across the Commonwealth. You will operate a non-commercial van or a commercial box truck as needed to keep operations running smoothly.

Driver and Vehicle Services processes millions of transactions each year involving billions of dollars in fees and taxes. The timely, accurate movement of mail, documents, and products is critical to ensuring fast, reliable service for Pennsylvania's citizens. Your work will directly support that mission.

If you are ready to take on a role that keeps Pennsylvania moving, apply today!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, your primary responsibility is the pickup, transport, and delivery of applications, form requests, and other materials from Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) at the Riverfront Office Center (ROC) for distribution to PennDOT facilities and partner agencies. These shuttle runs occur three to four times daily, and during peak seasons, you may be required to work overtime to help manage increased volume.

You will pick up items at the ROC, sort them according to delivery routes, and transport them-primarily within the Capitol Complex-using a Commonwealth van. After making deliveries, you will collect return items for transport back to the ROC.

Using a cart, you will move materials to designated areas and deliver them directly to the appropriate personnel. At times, you will hand-deliver items to specific offices or employees across the Commonwealth.

Additional duties include delivering deposits from DVS to the Office of the Comptroller as needed, picking up trays or tubs of mail from the Post Office, and processing mail using an electronic slitting machine. You will sort, open, and distribute both U.S. Postal Service and interoffice mail.

When required, you will also operate a Commonwealth enclosed box truck (CMV) with a GVWR of 35,000 lbs. to complete pickup and delivery assignments.
