SCOPE OF POSITION: In coordination with the Corps Officer and other staff, plan, develop and implement the Sunday services music worship and music ministry of The Salvation Army Great Falls Corps. Responsible for promoting renewal in corporate worship while using a variety of styles and forms of music.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • With the Corps Officer and other staff, help plan and lead in the corporate Sunday services of the church in alignment with Salvation Army and Programming tenants and principles.
  • Oversee and direct the Praise Band and audio-visual crew through organizational management.

  • Help develop additional worship leaders from within the church body.
  • Create the schedule for the band members and audio-visual crew; determine band makeup each Sunday.
  • Recruit musicians and technicians as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Corps Officer in the selection of music for all corporate worship services.
  • Educate worship / music team members win the tenants of The Salvation Army in regularly scheduled team sessions and meetings.
  • Coordinate and provide music personnel for weddings, funerals, and other special services as needed.
  • Communicate and coordinate with guest leaders ensuring all responsibilities of the worship leader are fulfilled when there is a substitute for the worship leader in a service.
  • Communicates with all staff, as necessary.
  • Supervise the Praise Band and audio-visual crew.



EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:



  • One year of experience leading a Corps/church praise team, including previous participation in musical arts.
  • High school degree


  • Post high school education preferred included a degree.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Able to articulate and relate the tenants of The Salvation Army into the Sunday services along with Corps officer direction.
  • Able to lead graciously as a servant, with self-direction and initiative.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate to and cooperate with Corps members as a team member as well as ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Have effective vocal and musical skills that cover a broad range of musical styles.
  • Must proficiently play the piano; ability to read music is preferred.
  • Lead the Corps music ministry in contemporary and traditional music inviting the congregation to worship.
  • Representative of The Salvation Army
  • Open to and comfortable with a variety of manifestations of the Holy Spirit in worship



SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS:



  • Familiar with Microsoft Office suite
  • Must be able to access simple computer software to produce sheet and other types of music for musicians.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be able to meet program demands.
  • Sit, move, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
  • Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.



Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomfort associated without noise, dust, dirt and similar.

Work Schedule / Location:

Part-time (3-4 hours per week); flexible as arranged with the Corps Officer. Weekly participation in worship planning, rehearsals, and if comfortable worship leadership.
