The Building Attendant - Day Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming facility environment through comprehensive cleaning, maintenance, and event support services. This customer-facing role focuses on high-traffic areas, restrooms, common spaces, and kitchens while providing exceptional service to building occupants. You'll perform daily cleaning tasks, assist with event setup and breakdown, monitor facility conditions, report maintenance needs, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations throughout the premises.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Clean and sanitize facility areas with focus on high-traffic, high-touch points; service, clean, and restock restrooms; gather, sort, and empty trash to dumpsters and recycling areas
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum building floors; clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors; dust and polish furniture, walls, machines, equipment, and fixtures
  • Check and restock kitchens with utensils, plates, cups, drinks, and snacks; clean and restock coffee bars including specific coffee machine processes; load/unload dishwashers and clean appliances
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness of common areas including lobbies, elevators, and rooftop patio; perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and minor repairs
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, and chairs for on-site events; print and distribute materials as directed by event team; assist with catering setup and breakdown
  • Notify managers of building repairs, leaks, or facility incidents; monitor building security and report suspicious activities or safety concerns
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; ensure compliance with health and safety regulations; collaborate with maintenance staff to address larger facility issues

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout shifts
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed
  • Work involves repetitive motions including bending, reaching, and climbing

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and safety procedures
  • Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in janitorial or facilities maintenance
  • Experience in hospitality or customer-facing roles
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in facility maintenance
  • Experience with event setup and breakdown
  • Knowledge of inventory management for cleaning supplies
  • Comfort with computer technologies for printing and distributing materials

Perform basic maintenance functions and task to maintain structures and common areas to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contract facility sites and structures

Observes assigned area(s) for damage, etc., and reports to supervisor items needing attention: makes simple repairs and adjustments including unstopping toilets, light janitorial/housekeeping, etc. as requested.

Comply with work order system to include interpreting work orders, performing work requested and completing work orders per instruction.

Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards; Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures

Daily close out of assigned work orders and provide weekly updates as needed

High school diploma or equivalent

1 to 3 years of related experience

Physical work requirements and work conditions

Stand and walk for prolonged periods.

Regularly lift, move and/or carry up to 10 pounds; Frequently lift, move and/or carry up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift, move and/or carry up to 50 pounds.

Perform overhead work often while balanced standing on a ladder.

Bend, kneel, twist and reach to get to areas difficult to access and/or confined areas like closets, crawl spaces, attics, etc.

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
