Details about the Sous Chef position we are hiring for:

The Sous Chef is responsible for the proper preparation of the planned menu in the absence of the Executive Chef and assists in the supervision of all kitchen employees maintaining a positive, courteous work environment for staff and residents.

This position acts as the second in charge of the kitchen, dining room, and total food service operations at The Landings Independent Living.

Schedule will be 10am-7pm with varying days. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS!

* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

* Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.

* Two to three years' experience in a hotel, restaurant, or club with fine dining preferred.

* Culinary education and supervisory background desirable.

* Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.

* Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet. Health Care experience desirable.

* Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicates effectively, and performs simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.

* Food Protection Manager Serve Safe Certification

* Ability to manage multiple priorities

* Excellent interpersonal and social skills in order to work effectively with residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and other outside contacts.
