JOB SUMMARY

The Production Scheduler is responsible for creating, maintaining, and executing detailed daily and weekly production schedules. This role converts production plans into actionable schedules, sequences work orders, and coordinates plant-floor activities to ensure efficient execution, schedule adherence, and on-time delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Comply with Westlake Safety Policies
  • Provide safety leadership in promoting and creating a zero-injury safety culture
  • Create and maintain daily and weekly production schedules for assigned manufacturing areas
  • Sequence work orders based on priorities, equipment availability, labor, and material readiness
  • Communicate daily production priorities to supervisors and plant leadership
  • Monitor shop-floor execution and adjust schedules to address delays, downtime, or shortages
  • Track schedule adherence and escalating issues that impact customer commitments
  • Coordinate with Customer Service on order status, availability, and delivery risks
  • Release, update, and close production work orders in the ERP system
  • Maintain visibility of production, inventory movement, and shipping status
  • Generate and distribute production and scheduling reports for management
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling efficiency and execution
  • All other tasks assigned by manager

  • Must be able to understand production workflows, scheduling techniques, inventory management, production standards, and process management
  • Must have strong internal and external customer service skills
  • Must be well-organized, detail oriented, and a self-starter with demonstrated capacity to learn new technologies and work successfully in a team environment
  • Operate a computer or other keyboard instrument
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Experience compiling and presenting scheduling documentation and data in Excel, Word, etc.
  • Strong understanding of production workflows and manufacturing processes

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • Associates degree preferred; equivalent work experience acceptable
  • 1 - 3 years' experience in functional role
  • Experience working in an ERP environment required
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
  • Move or traverse about the facilities.
  • Able to ascend/descend stairs and ladders
  • Work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
  • Stand for up to 12 hours performing shift work or in a stationary position
  • Perform repetitive movements
  • Bend and/or twist
  • Work in constant noise levels above 85 decibels
  • Handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Able to lift/move up to 50 pounds
