Overview

Support the development of instrumentation and controls design packages, including instrument plans, installation details, SPI wiring and loop diagrams, 3D modeling of instrumentation, and construction work packages. Collaborate across disciplines and help guide junior designers while ensuring quality, safety, and schedule compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce instrument location plans, installation details, wiring reports, loop diagrams, and panel/cabinet drawings.

  • Update and revise P&IDs, client drawings, and documentation.

  • Model offline instrumentation and major I&C equipment in 3D (E3D, S3D, PDMS).

  • Prepare material takeoffs for instrument bulk materials.

  • Perform field surveys and supervise survey team designers.

  • Review piping isometrics for instrument tap orientation, materials, and inline instrument requirements.

  • Coordinate with Piping, Electrical, Civil, and other engineering disciplines.

  • Lead workshare coordination with international design teams, including weekly meetings.

  • Manage design budgets, schedules, and progress reporting.

  • Develop construction work packages and job notes.

  • Mentor junior designers and ensure adherence to standards, codes, and client specifications.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years supervising designers on project execution.

  • 3+ years collaborating with international workshare teams.

  • Proficiency with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), including Index, Wiring, and Loop modules.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

  • Proficent with 3D modeling tools (E3D, S3D, PDMS).

  • Knowledge of NEC, ISA, and relevant industry standards.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.

  • Willingness to travel to jobsites and vendor facilities.
