Title: Principal Analyst, Finance AI Expert

What you will do:

  • Quickly learn and execute Gartner's proven methodology for identifying world-class insights that provide clients with practical solutions to many of today's and tomorrow's biggest and most amorphous business and AI challenges.
  • Create impactful, thought-provoking, actionable, timely, objective and trusted insights for the most advanced CFOs in AI and finance transformation. Translate these cutting-edge insights into practical teachings that enable typical CFOs and other senior finance leaders advance AI and transform the finance function.
  • Create prose, graphics, and presentation content with engaging storylines that change how senior finance executives should approach their most strategic challenges.
  • Contribute ideas that move forward your colleagues' thinking about how senior finance executives can solve their most critical challenges.
  • Facilitate research interviews with senior finance executives, identifying shared challenges, testing solution hypotheses and ideas, and teaching them in-the-moment.
  • Continuously deepen terrain and AI expertise to develop thought leadership in research positions across the finance analyst team.
  • Engage with senior finance leaders in your expertise areas, helping them solve complex challenges and improve business outcomes.

What you will need:

  • Enthusiasm for intellectually wrestling with mental or conceptual spaces where no one has fully explored the topic yet, existing models, assumptions, or frameworks don't exist, and there is room for fresh insight, innovation, or reframing.
  • Appetite to dive deep into a given content terrain and AI to develop expertise and distill key findings.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, restructure, identify and create original insights from qualitative and/or quantitative data.
  • Eagerness to share ideas you aren't certain about with teammates, senior stakeholders, and clients when the ideas will then be subject to respectful critique and intellectual debate.
  • Receptivity to respectful, constructive feedback and ability to thrive in a highly iterative environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with particular attention to precision of language and ability to organize information logically.
  • High aspiration to constantly learn and improve, paired with passion for independently exploring new ideas and expanding existing knowledge.
  • Competence to meet deadlines, multi-task, and manage work under ambiguity (e.g., changing factors, limited information).
  • Ability to navigate a highly matrixed, remote work environment with colleagues across the globe by proactively forming networks.

Experiences and skills that will help you succeed:

  • Master's (Sociology, History, Philosophy, Literature, MBA etc.) or PhD degrees
  • 5+ years of experience in research and creating client-ready insights
  • Academic background or work experience in or with corporate finance
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools in professional or personal settings, with a strong willingness to experiment, learn continuously, and stay current with emerging AI capabilities
  • Understanding of how technology, business trends, and macro shifts affect the enterprise and its leadership

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 84,000 USD - 112,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
