The Uniformed and Overseas Citizen Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) Temporary Clerk is a skilled multitasker who works with high-volume, time-sensitive work. You will be responsible for assisting military and overseas voters in registering to vote, updating their voter records, processing their requests for early ballots, and instructing them on how to send/receive ballot materials. You must possess professional communication skills (verbal and written) and have advanced computer skills. This position may also support other divisional operations within Early Voting (e.g., Signature Verification, Curing, etc.). The ideal candidate will be adaptable, flexible, and able to learn new tasks quickly.

The Maricopa County Recorder's Office (MCRO) is responsible for maintaining the Maricopa County voter registration records and for administering elections in partnership with the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The MCRO also maintains a permanent public record of over 50 million documents dating back to 1871, including deeds, plat maps, and other important records. We Require

This position requires a High School diploma or GED.

Other Requirements

  • Must be registered, or eligible to register, to vote in Arizona
  • Must be able to pass applicable background screening
  • Must be able to type 30 WPM
  • Must be proficient in using a desktop computer, printer, scanner, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Adobe, and Paint
  • Must be able to work irregular hours and extended hours based on departmental needs

We Also Value

Preferred candidates will possess at least one (1) year of experience performing administrative duties in an Election office environment.

Job Contributions

  • Assist Military and Overseas voters to register to vote, request early ballots, and/or process returned ballots
  • Provide excellent communication via telephone and email
  • Multitask and manage a high volume of various tasks that are time-sensitive
  • Use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe, and Paint daily
  • Navigate specialized software using a desktop computer

Working Conditions

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift floor-to-shoulder and shoulder-to-waist a minimum of 25 pounds and carry for 100 feet
  • Ability to push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds for 200 feet
  • Extensive overtime may be required (depending on volume)
