THE POSITION

The PA Human Relations Commission (PHRC) is searching for an individual who will thrive in a fast-paced office environment and is energetic, efficient, detail oriented, and has excellent customer service skills. We have an immediate opening for a Clerical Assistant 2 who will provide administrative and clerical support within our Pittsburgh regional office of PHRC.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, the Clerical Assistant 2 will provide a full range of support functions to the PHRC Pittsburgh Regional Office administrative, supervisory, legal, and investigative staff in order to expedite and ensure the mission of PHRC. The Clerical Assistant 2 will initiate the service of investigation process for complaints using appropriate software such as; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and the PHRC Case Management System. Provides support and assists staff in preparing file folders for the case files and maintains office files. This position will provide assistance to visitors, addressing complaints; schedule or reschedule appointments as assigned; operate office equipment (e.g., photocopiers, scanners), manage supplies, and ensures the office environment is organized and efficient.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
