Senior / Principal Electrical Transmission Engineer (Hybrid - Team Lead Track)

Halff has an opening for a Senior/Principal Electrical Transmission Engineer. This is a hands on transmission leadership position to expand our electric power infrastructure team within our Energy Practice. The ideal candidate will bring experience working with electric power delivery entities (investor-owned utilities, municipally owned utilities and/or electric cooperatives, privately-owned electric power systems) or engineering consultants in Electric Power Infrastructure (EPI). Candidates should have experience managing and growing a transmission design team, coordinating with clients, and leading delivery of capital asset projects. This role will lead through hands on technical delivery and quality oversight while building the team and establishing standards; formal leadership responsibilities will grow as the team expands. EPI Transmission Services are a primary focus, experience with substation interconnects is a plus. You will work a hybrid schedule, once the initial ramp up is completed. Travel up to 25% based on project needs and office location. You have a choice of offices located in Houston (preferred), Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, or San Antonio. This is an exciting opportunity with our growing EPI team and offers an excellent career development opportunity for someone looking to grow with Halff, with potential for not only business and personal growth, but ownership in the firm.

  • Lead successful strategic pursuits to capture specific opportunities, including acting as Project Manager on significant projects.
  • Manage and lead a production team, coordinate with clients and lead delivery of multiple electric power infrastructure design projects for private and public clients.
  • Work closely with the operations team and Energy Practice Leadership to develop, create, and execute growth strategies for the team.
  • Work closely with operations staff to identify, hire, develop and grow key staff and resources, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop technical specifications and bid documents and assist clients with the bid and evaluation process.
  • Work closely with other practices to leverage firm wide resources.
