Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a skilled individual to join the Nuclear Test Operations (NTO) team. We provide manufacturing, testing, and engineering to support on-site reactor component development. In addition, we manufacture test articles for core material and process development programs to advance Naval reactor technology and reduce core manufacturing costs. NTO's development programs also serve to create solutions to manufacturing and inspection problems encountered at the core vendor facilities.
About the role:
* Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, facility, and local infrastructure.
* Communicate with peers, engineers, maintenance personnel, and management on work status and production items.
* Routine mechanical assembly and installation of experimental test facilities and test components.
* Execute all work in accordance with established rules for environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene controls.
* Ability to learn and execute immediate actions for response to emergency situations and participate in site radiological response.
* Ability to work in a radiological environment directly handling nuclear material.
* Obtaining and holding qualifications such as a fuel handler and contamination worker.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Journeymans Papers in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Qualification as a Naval Nuclear Propulsion Operator (or commercial nuclear equivalent) and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
Preferred Skills

* Demonstrated experience in industrial or laboratory settings involving tools, equipment, or machinery.
* Proven ability to work in a team environment to solve technical challenges and ensure safe operations with a strong work ethic.
* Familiarity with electrical work, machining, mechanical, maintenance, and general troubleshooting experience.

Pay Range
$63,300.00 - $96,900.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
