Idaho National Laboratory is hiring an Equipment & Materials Procurement Technician to work on our Nuclear Material Acquisition team. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off.

At Idaho National Laboratory, you'll activate and fulfill orders using blanket ordering agreements, purchase cards, and computer material ordering systems. You will collaborate with vendors, buyers, planners, and customers to facilitate timely delivery of materials and services and interpret technical specifications to integrate requirements into procurement documents. You'll provide status updates on orders, support nuclear grade procurements, assist with kitting and staging activities, and deliver strong customer service to customers at the Materials and Fuels Complex.

This position is located at our Materials and Fuels Complex, which hosts the core of the U.S. nuclear research and development capabilities with a diverse array of facilities designed for research on highly irradiated fuels and materials. At the Materials and Fuels Complex you will be a part of a team supporting nuclear facilities that advance nuclear energy. Your skills will also support advanced reactor demonstration through understanding procurement needs and delivering materials in a efficient manner. Many groups, such as universities, industry partners, other national laboratories, international research organizations, and other federal agencies are working at MFC.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Activate and fulfill orders using effective methods, Blanket Ordering Agreements, Purchase-Card, or computer material ordering system.
  • Provide status for material orders and services to assist in accurate scheduling and delivery in support of facility maintenance and modifications.
  • Collaborate with vendors, buyers, planners, technician/crafts, and customers using effective communication methods to facilitate the timely order delivery of materials and services. Input vendor and purchase order data into a computer system. Prepare Bills of Materials.
  • Interpret the technical content of specifications, review and assist in developing statements of work (SOW), research vendor data, apply quality control requirements, identify potential sources of materials, and integrate all requirements into specification-based requisitioning documents.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the many facilities and the Materials and Fuels Complex.
  • May contact vendors for pricing information, expedite the delivery of purchased items, or place orders for standard, off-the-shelf merchandise according to pre-negotiated contract prices.
  • May complete tasks related to warehouse/kitting and staging.

Required:

  • Level 3: High school diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
  • Level 4: High school diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience

  • Demonstrated experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning tool.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with ordering material to specifications.

Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($22.93 - $37.82) / Level 4 ($26.36 - $43.48). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.

Physical Requirements:

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, operate a computer keyboard or type, handle materials, or reach with hands and arms performing the essential functions of the classification. The duties require sitting for long periods, moving and organizing materials. The employee must occasionally lift 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus, conduct research and inspect materials. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions, communicate effectively in person, by telephone or electronic mail. While performing the duties of this classification, the employee works in an office setting where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
