College of Medicine Office of Student Affairs:

This office supports students throughout their medical education, from recruitment, application, and admission through graduation and beyond, by providing outstanding student-centered services in the core functions of admissions, counseling and wellness, student financial services, student records, student academic support, and student services, while collaborating with faculty and staff in the development and education of exemplary physicians.

The Opportunity:

The Assistant Director of the College of Medicine Financial Aid assists in the coordination of student financial services and financial aid for the M.D. Program, serving as a primary advisor and administrative coordinator for the financial lifecycle of medical students at the UCF College of Medicine. The position balances high-touch student counseling with complex regulatory processing, ensuring that future physicians are equipped with both the funding they need and the financial literacy to manage their debt responsibly.

Responsibilities:


  • Counsels and advises medical students regarding the financial aid process. Analyzes and evaluates students' financial needs and meets with students as needed to give advice and counsel regarding budgeting, debt management, credit, and loan repayment. Assists students with applications for additional resources, generally private scholarships.

  • Responsible for awarding and processing institutional and financial aid, including federal loans, private and institutional scholarships, private loans, and private scholarships. Process short-term advances to qualifying students

  • Serves as a liaison between the UCF Office of Student Financial Assistance and the College of Medicine to facilitate ongoing communication between offices. Works with the main campus staff during the system setup phase each year.

  • Assists in the responsibility for financial aid presentations, as well as professional development opportunities, for medical students. Develops student aid counseling and consumer information in accordance with federal regulations.

  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the online financial literacy WebCourse, "Med Money", which is available to all medical students.

  • Assists in the coordination of student financial services activities and shares in the responsibility for the continual establishment of operational policies and procedures, as well as the development and implementation of processes as needed to improve services.

  • Functions as the acting director in the absence of the COM Financial Aid Director.

  • Attends professional workshops, meetings, and training sessions to ensure adequate professional development and keeps abreast of current rules and regulations. Assists with Student Affairs events. Performs other duties as assigned. Time completion of all university and COM training and requirements.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience with at least 1+ year(s) of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of higher education financial aid experience

  • Proven track record of providing high-level financial counseling and debt management advice to students in a higher education setting.

  • Familiarity with federal and private loan systems, including COD (Common Origination Disbursement), NSLDS (National Student Loan Data System), and ELM (Education Loan Management Resources).

  • Direct experience in allopathic or osteopathic medical school financial aid, demonstrating a deep understanding of the unique funding needs of medical students.

  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft or comparable enterprise-level student information systems.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to deliver engaging presentations to diverse groups and provide empathetic, one-on-one advising.

  • A strong track record of providing high-level customer service and professional support.

  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate results in a fast-paced environment.


Special Instructions to the Applicants:


  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $56,030-$68,637. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
