Databricks Data Engineer

The Opportunity

As a Databricks data engineer, you'll use your skills to help implement data engineering activities on some of the most mission-driven projects in the industry. You'll support the development and deployment of modern data pipelines and platforms that transform raw data into meaningful, actionable insights.

You'll work with a multi-disciplinary team of data engineers, analysts, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment. In this role, you'll grow your technical skills while supporting the design, build, and maintenance of scalable data platforms leveraging Databricks and cloud-native technologies. This position is located in Ashburn, Virginia

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience with data engineering concepts and delivery in academic or professional environments
  • 3+ years of experience working with Databricks, Apache Spark, or distributed data processing frameworks
  • 3+ years of experience working with Python and PySpark development
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL and working with structured and semi-structured data
  • Experience with data pipelines, workflow orchestration, or process automation
  • Experience working in cloud environments, including Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Experience supporting data architectures, including data lakes, data warehouses, or data marts
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, ambiguous, and ever-changing environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in Enterprise IT, or 8+ years of experience in Enterprise IT in lieu of a degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with Databricks platform capabilities, including Unity Catalog and MLflow
  • Experience implementing Lakehouse architectures and Medallion data patterns, including Bronze, Silver, or Gold
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools, including Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Experience designing cloud-based data architectures or deploying production-grade machine learning workloads
  • Experience with big data ecosystem tools, including Delta Live Tables, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Kafka, or similar
  • Experience with Spark SQL and performance tuning
  • Experience with data governance, data cataloging, or data quality management practices
  • Experience with data visualization tools, including Power BI or SSRS
  • Databricks certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
