This position has the responsibility for the development of a strategic vision and management of multiple categories consisting of high profile & high complexity materials, and supplies. Responsibilities include developing & executing strategic sourcing strategies, monitoring market movements and negotiating agreements, working with a broad base of business groups, and resolving issues with suppliers. This position also works closely with Sourcing Director supporting more strategic, complex, or specialized categories. Additional Information The travel for this position is 20%. This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141 or 1101 South 3rd Street Minneapolis, MN 55415 or 8725 W. Higgins Rd, Ste 100, Chicago, IL, 60631. - Identify challenges & opportunities within category by overseeing the gathering, analysis, and subsequent interpretation of quantitative and qualitative information. Then subsequently choosing the best course of action by establishing clear decision criteria, generating and evaluating alternatives, and making timely decisions
- Lead North American sourcing strategy for solvent categories, including aromatics, aliphatics, oxygenated solvents, and specialty solvents
- Ensure that both internal and external client perspectives are a driving force behind strategic priorities, business decisions, organizational processes and individual activities
- Use effective communication and involvement to gain agreement and commitment to ideas and plans to support specific work outcomes
- Establish action plans for self, direct reports, & others to complete work efficiently by setting priorities, establishing timelines and leveraging resources
- Lead organizational strategies through others by developing, leading, & working within cross functional and global teams to drive change associated with developed global category strategies and implementation of cost savings projects & initiatives
- Develop and implement domestic and global category sourcing strategies and plans for assigned categories consistent with global category team strategies and all applicable Business Unit operating plans and objectives. Oversee the development of sourcing strategies for direct reports
- Develop, issue and analyze RFQ's for assigned regional & global categories or those areas directed by Purchasing Director. Oversee the RFQ process for categories assigned to direct reports.
- Serve as the primary Sourcing contact for identified Business Unit Client
- Provide Sourcing based information to the Client such as Forecasting, Market Conditions, Strategy Shifts, etc.
- Facilitate Client / Sourcing Related Projects
- Advocate for the Client back into Sourcing
- Serve on cross functional continuous improvement teams with Business Unit Client
- Support Marketing's strategy and requirements
- Identify and develop new suppliers
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials
- Develop and communicate material demand forecasts to suppliers
- Negotiate and implement sourcing agreements/contracts which help to increase supply assurance and improve Sherwin-Williams' competitive position in the market
- Forecast pricing on assigned categories to provide top management with key information for determining future finished goods pricing and budgetary impacts. Oversee this forecasting process for categories assigned to direct reports
- Control payment terms, discounts, consignment programs for areas of responsibility Globally and oversee this process for direct reports
- Management of established pricing (verification, resolution of discrepancies, etc.)
- Negotiate and resolve any claims or disputes concerning a supplier's performance
- Develop written short to long-term category strategies for assigned categories and oversee the development and implementation of these strategies for direct reports
- Develop and implement cost savings projects and initiatives
- Work closely with Technical, Supply Chain, Operations, and Marketing to ensure strategy alignment with total cost and assured supply objectives. Work closely with suppliers to ensure that appropriate resources, data and specification information is made available to enable timely product qualifications
- Ensure compliance with department policies, procedures and applicable laws, rules and regulations
Subordinate Activities
- Supervise additional staff to include hiring, training, evaluating performance, and providing compensation recommendations. Additional staff includes a minimum of at least two Senior Sourcing Specialist or one Sourcing Manager
- Manage staff effectively, ensuring structured development opportunities & successful execution of department strategy
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree or higher or higher
- Must have at least seven (7) years of work experience Sourcing, Marketing, Technical, Operations, Supply Chain, in solvents, petrochemicals, or commodity chemicals
- Must have working experience in Analytics
- Must have working experience Negotiating & Monitoring Contracts
- Must have working experience with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualification:
- Have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain, Engineering, Chemistry, and Business
- Have at least ten (10) years of working experience in Sourcing, Marketing, Technical, Operations, Supply Chain, in solvents, petrochemicals, or commodity chemicals
- Have experience with experience negotiating indexlinked and feedstockbased contracts
- Have work experience with Cost Savings, Technical Expertise, and ability to Drive Change within the scope of their duties
- Have work experience with managing High Profile, High Complexity materials & supplies
- Have working experience with increasing responsibility with strong performance and focus on cost savings and security of supply
- Have working experience with global category governance or multi region sourcing
