A Day in the Life of the Chief of Staff:

The Chief of Staff (CoS) is a trusted strategic advisor and execution partner to the CEO-ensuring the CEO's priorities are advanced, decisions are well informed, and the organization operates with clarity and alignment. This role serves as an integrator across the executive leadership team, translating strategy into action, driving cross-functional initiatives, and enhancing organizational effectiveness. In addition to strategic responsibilities, the Chief of Staff also supports select administrative functions that optimize the CEO's time and ensure smooth day to day operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Executive Enablement & Strategic Planning

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO; prepare executive briefings, decision memos, and board materials with clear analyses and recommendations.
  • Lead annual and quarterly strategic planning cycles, OKRs, and enterprise scorecards, ensuring alignment and accountability across functions.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and special projects on behalf of the CEO to accelerate execution and resolve organizational bottlenecks.

Operating Rhythm & Governance

  • Own the executive operating cadence (ELT meetings, offsites, quarterly business reviews); drive agendas, content quality, decisions, and follow-through.
  • Stand up and refine governance processes (e.g., investment approvals, cross-functional steering committees, risk reviews).

Program & Portfolio Management

  • Lead mission-critical, cross-functional initiatives from concept to delivery-setting goals, milestone plans, risks/mitigations, and success metrics.
  • Establish light-weight PMO practices (templates, dashboards, status reporting) to deliver visibility and predictability for executive priorities.

Communications & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Craft executive communications, talking points, and narratives for internal/external moments (all-hands, leadership forums, board/Investor relations in partnership with Comms/Finance).
  • Partner with HR/Comms on change management to ensure smooth adoption of new strategies, org changes, and operating model shifts.
  • Manage executive communication flow, ensuring information to and from the CEO is prioritized, accurate, and actionable.

Decision Support & Analytics

  • Synthesize data and insights into concise, decision-ready materials; proactively anticipate information needs to accelerate executive decisions.
  • Partner with Finance, Strategy, and Analytics to create KPI frameworks, track performance, and highlight trend-based opportunities/risks.

Operational Effectiveness & Administrative Support

  • Oversee elements of CEO calendar management and meeting coordination, ensuring time is allocated to highestvalue priorities.
  • Arrange logistics for key meetings, including agendas, attendee preparation, materials, travel needs, and onsite details.
  • Manage CEO expense reports, reimbursements, and budget tracking to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Streamline CEO workflows, internal processes, and information intake to enhance efficiency and clarity.
  • Support the coordination of travel arrangements and executive-level event planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Table:

Experience:

    • 8 - 12+ years' experience partnering directly with supporting a CEO or COO, or serving as Chief of Staff.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Strategic Thinking: Connects dots across business, market, customers, and internal data to shape priorities.
    • Operational Excellence: Builds practical systems for planning, execution, and accountability.
    • Influence & Facilitation: Aligns diverse stakeholders and converts discussion into action.
    • Judgment & Discretion: Handles sensitive topics with confidentiality and maturity.
    • Bias for Action: Moves initiatives forward with clarity, urgency, and measurable outcomes.
    • Communication Mastery: Distills complexity into clear, concise, executive-level narratives and actionable plans.
    • Administrative: Strong administrative capability-high attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
    • Ability to thrive in a high-velocity environment with shifting priorities.

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in business or related field required

    Base Salary: The base salary range for this position is $115,000 - $145,000 annually, plus opportunities for bonus and benefits, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities.
