HDR Engineering is looking for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer (for both our Transmission Line and Substation teams) to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals. The Senior Civil/Structural Engineer has broad technical knowledge and experience with the structural design components of high voltage electrical transmission lines, switchyards, and substation projects up to 500kV, including physical substation design, steel structure calculations and design, and foundation design. Leveraging that knowledge and experience, they work in close coordination with Project Managers (PM) and project teams in multiple office locations to lead, oversee, review, and/or execute the structural engineering and design components of transmission line and substation projects. The Senior Civil/Structural Engineer may also train, mentor, and guide junior engineers across the practice and help develop and implement best practices to advance our capabilities across this discipline. Specific duties include:
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- Experience using industry standard design software, including PLS-Tower and Mathcad Prime.
- Previous consulting firm experience
- Familiarity with the latest AISC, ASCE, ANSI, and other industry standards.
- Experience using industry standard design software such as L-Pile and MFAD.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. - Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
- Experience in design calculations and layouts
- Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
- Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
