Job description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Reporting Engineer with strong expertise in Power BI and other data visualization platforms such as Tableau. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality dashboards and reports, while also advising on the best reporting tools and strategies to meet diverse business needs. The ideal candidate is highly independent, detail-oriented, a fast learner, and an excellent communicator with a strong sense of urgency.


Key Responsibilities
Reporting & Dashboard Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI
  • Build scalable and performant data models, with a strong focus on Dynamics Dataverse data
  • Develop visualizations that provide clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across all reporting solutions


Platform Expertise & Advisory

  • Act as a subject matter expert in Power BI, Tableau, and other reporting platforms
  • Evaluate business requirements and recommend the most appropriate reporting tools and architectures
  • Provide guidance on best practices for data visualization, usability, and performance
  • Help define reporting standards, governance, and design guidelines


Data Analysis & Troubleshooting

  • Analyze Dynamics Dataverse data and other data sources to support business decision-making
  • Troubleshoot data, performance, and visualization issues across reporting platforms
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions


Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with Technical Product Managers and business stakeholders to gather and refine reporting requirements
  • Translate business needs into technical reporting solutions
  • Communicate insights, progress, and issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences


Ownership & Delivery

  • Work independently to manage multiple reporting requests and priorities
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and accountability in delivering high-quality outputs
  • Continuously improve reporting processes and solutions


Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience with Power BI, including dashboard development and data modeling
  • Experience with Tableau or other data visualization/reporting tools
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform, especially Dataverse
  • Strong understanding of data analysis, data visualization principles, and best practices
  • Ability to assess and recommend appropriate reporting platforms based on business needs
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Occasionally take the on call duty, including but not limited to, during nights and weekends to support Broad Arrow Auctions


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Dynamics Dataverse data in reporting scenarios
  • Experience with SQL and data querying
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
  • Nice to have but not required: Experience with DoCentric
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets
  • Knowledge of data governance and reporting best practices
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
