Department Summary:
Since our founding in 1944 by William G. Lennox (known for his discovery of Lennox Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy) as the world's first comprehensive pediatric epilepsy center, we've been at the forefront of pediatric epilepsy research and care. Today, the Epilepsy Center at Boston Children's Hospital is recognized by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers as one of only a few Level 4 pediatric epilepsy centers in the country. Level 4 epilepsy centers provide complex forms of intensive neurodiagnostic monitoring and more extensive medical, neuropsychological, and psychosocial treatment. Level 4 centers also offer a complete evaluation for epilepsy surgery and a broad range of surgical treatments.



Key responsibilities:
  • Triaging and managing patient messaging and communication via phone and patient portal
  • Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and modifying plans of care for a specific patient assignment throughout the healthcare continuum.
  • Providing exemplary patient care and working closely with physician partners and members of the interdisciplinary Epilepsy team.
  • Contacting patients for changes in clinical management.
  • Providing ongoing care coordination between clinic visits by communicating with families, healthcare team members and other agencies involved.
  • Educating patients and families regarding disease management and medications.
  • Assisting with completion of prescriptions, school forms, medication and DME insurance authorizations, and other community networking resources and referrals
  • Working 40 hours per week: (4) 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday
Minimum qualifications:
Education:
  • BSN degree
Experience:
  • At least two years of Pediatric RN experience in either inpatient or ambulatory setting required
  • Neurology and/or epilepsy experience preferred
License/certification:
  • MA RN license

Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
