This position is funded for 12 months; continuation past 12 months will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Biobehavioral Health in the College of Health and Human Development, is seeking candidates for a Lab Coordinator inDr. Hannah Schreier's laboratory.Research in the lab focuses on understanding the biological underpinnings of adverse experiences on youth and young adult chronic disease risk with an emphasis on functional immune outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform whole blood cultures and culture harvests

  • Run multiplex and ELISA assays, including use of the Ella equipment

  • Clean, process, and analyze data

  • Maintain and oversee quality control measures and standard operating procedures in the lab for all lab personnel

  • Adjust existing protocols and develop new laboratory protocols for ongoing projects as well as grant renewals

  • Maintain supplies of necessary materials, primarily lab consumables (gloves, pipette tips, etc.)

  • Monitor and track laboratory expenditures across ongoing studies; reconcile supplies and equipment purchased to invoices and purchase card statements.

  • Monitor project progress and research and suggest solutions as challenges arise

  • Serve as an indirect supervisor to one full-time Research Technologist, graduate students, and undergraduate students, who will include training, scheduling, and overseeing task completion.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of one year of experience working within a clinical or research laboratory context is required.

  • Candidates should have strong communication skills, work well in a team, and be able to work carefully, responsibly, and with great attention to detail.

  • Prior experience performing whole blood cultures and ELISAs is preferred.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,100.00 - $61,000.00.
