Position Title: Float Phlebotomist II

Work Location: 10512 Park Rd, Ste 107, Charlotte, NC

(Float to PSC and IOP locations)

Assignment Duration: 3-Month

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM



  • 8-hour shifts
  • Start times may vary (as early as 7:30 AM or as late as 6:30 PM)
  • Overtime possible


Work Arrangement: Onsite (Float Role)


Position Summary

The Phlebotomist II is responsible for performing blood draws and assisting with various assigned duties including troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations.


Background & Context

  • Backfill for employee leave (LOA/FMLA)
  • Float role covering PSC and IOP locations


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data
  • Collect and store specimens following established procedures
  • Clearly explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients
  • Demonstrate proper techniques using straight and butterfly needles
  • Review and understand physician orders
  • Match laboratory requisitions with specimen tubes
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required
  • Ensure accuracy of test requisitions and labels
  • Package specimens for transport
  • Store specimens at required temperatures and follow transport protocols
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend required training sessions
  • Handle phone inquiries and communicate lab results
  • Perform blood collection across PSC and IOP locations


Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification (as required by state)
  • Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital
  • 2-4 years of overall experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team


Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Standing for most of the shift
  • Floating between multiple locations (some solo sites)
  • Reliable transportation required


Additional Information

  • Approx. 35 draws per day
  • Negative THC screen required
  • Flu vaccination and color vision screening required
  • Required vaccines: Hepatitis B, TB, MMR, T-DAP, Varicella
  • Lab Assistant experience preferred (not mandatory)
