Position Title: Float Phlebotomist II Work Location: 10512 Park Rd, Ste 107, Charlotte, NC (Float to PSC and IOP locations) Assignment Duration: 3-Month Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM 8-hour shifts Start times may vary (as early as 7:30 AM or as late as 6:30 PM) Overtime possible Work Arrangement: Onsite (Float Role) Position Summary The Phlebotomist II is responsible for performing blood draws and assisting with various assigned duties including troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations. Background & Context Backfill for employee leave (LOA/FMLA) Float role covering PSC and IOP locations Key Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data Collect and store specimens following established procedures Clearly explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients Demonstrate proper techniques using straight and butterfly needles Review and understand physician orders Match laboratory requisitions with specimen tubes Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required Ensure accuracy of test requisitions and labels Package specimens for transport Store specimens at required temperatures and follow transport protocols Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend required training sessions Handle phone inquiries and communicate lab results Perform blood collection across PSC and IOP locations Qualifications & Experience Valid Phlebotomy certification (as required by state) Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital 2-4 years of overall experience preferred High School Diploma or GED Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients Ability to work independently and as part of a team Working Conditions & Physical Demands Standing for most of the shift Floating between multiple locations (some solo sites) Reliable transportation required Additional Information Approx. 35 draws per day Negative THC screen required Flu vaccination and color vision screening required Required vaccines: Hepatitis B, TB, MMR, T-DAP, Varicella Lab Assistant experience preferred (not mandatory)
