As a result, a full-time position is available for a Survey Technician to join our Aviation Midwest group based at our office in Fargo, ND. Projects may include runways, taxiways, airport aprons, roadways, data centers, transportation/DOT, and other various projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and organizing surveys to determine precise locations and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas and contours for construction projects, map making, land divisions and other purposes.
  • Performing advanced survey computations, data analysis, and adjustments
  • Providing mentoring and technical guidance to survey technicians, supporting their professional growth and ensuring consistent work quality
  • Keeping clear and accurate field notes/sketches and recording field data
  • Performing calculations and preparing reports in support of survey crew activity
  • Researching and interpreting public and private records to establish property boundaries and support project objectives
  • Downloading field collection data, coordinating files, book files and field drawings on a regular basis
  • Following and ensuring compliance with state and company field procedures, standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Understanding and following the company standards for data collection and drafting
  • Ensure proper vehicle maintenance is being completed including preventative maintenance on a continual basis.
  • Leading and directing survey crews in the field, ensuring adherence to project requirements, safety procedures, and efficiency goals
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Traveling (approximately 25%) to construction sites is an essential function of this position. A valid driver's license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays may also be required.

The successful candidate must have the following:

  • An associate's degree in surveying, civil engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience

OR

  • If no degree, must have at least 6 years of relevant field surveying experience.

The ideal candidate will have any/all the following:

  • At least 10 or more years of relevant field survey experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of surveying tools, equipment, and technology
  • Ability to independently perform complex field measurements and data collection with accuracy and efficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced technicians
  • Effective organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to plan and prioritize field activities.
