The Product Engineering group has end-to-end product responsibility beginning in the R&D phase of new product introduction and carrying through ongoing support of legacy platforms. It carries a broad scope that involves daily cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Operations, Process Engineering, Planning, Sales, and customers. The preferred candidate will be highly motivated with an excellenttrack recordof performance and innovation as well as have a passion for developing and producingbest-in-classlaser products. This role has a great deal of customer-facing visibility and is well suited for an individual with a strong technical foundation, who is an expert in technical communication.
Functions:
  • Complete NPI design-oriented activities, including specifications, product/design FMEAs, DFX, qualification plans,bill of materials, test requirements, etc.
  • Understand all technical details of products - ranging frominitialdesigns to volume production issues.
  • Support Sales astechnicalvoice to the customer to help present new product offerings, problemsolve customer issues and gain an understanding of customer use applications.
  • Lead improvements in reliability based onfailure analysis,identifyingrootcauseand appropriate corrective actions.
  • Review production data with Process Engineering (e.g., yield, cycle time, DL hours) across entire MFG process tofacilitatecontinual improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with development and marketing on product roadmaps that promote the investigation and application ofnew technologiesto meet forecasted industry demands.
  • Manage multiple projects with multi-disciplinary indirectlyreporting team members.
Qualifications:
  • BS degree required in Physics, Optical Engineering,Mechanical Engineering,ElectricalEngineeringor similar discipline. MS degree preferred.
  • Minimum of3yearsofexperienceworking as an engineer.
  • Desire to bein a customer-facing rolewith expectedprogressiontoward managing customer accounts.
  • Excellent listening and collaboration skills.
  • Skilled at writing and presenting to effectively communicate concepts to both internal and external customers.
  • Attention to detail andanability to absorb and assimilate information rapidly.
  • Solving complex problems in multi-dimensional spaces.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Computer Skills -MS Excel,SolidworksPDM, SQL,DynamicsD365, etc.
  • Experience with fiber lasers and diode pumped solid state lasers useful.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of materials and processes to best achieve the design goals and product specifications.

Starting pay depends on qualifications:
  • Product Engineer I: $85,000 - $95,000annually
  • Product Engineer II: $90,000 - $115,000annually
