Overview
The Subrogation Sr. Specialist, Team Lead is a people leading position responsible for leading a team of Subrogation Investigation or Recovery Specialists. The Sr. Specialist, Team Lead will be tasked with monitoring and supporting production by ensuring individuals are appropriately trained and equipped to meet productivity standards. They will also be responsible for ensuring we adhere to a high standard of quality to maintain a positive relationship with clients, attorneys, and members. Successful performance in this position facilitates the effectiveness of the audit, the quality of the results delivered, appropriate retention of records, and enhances the professional image and reputation of Cotiviti. A Team Lead is responsible for leading a team of individuals to meet established goals and deliver both internal and external client requirements. This individual will have responsibilities including but not limited to performance management, interviewing, forecast, and planning as well as fostering a culture aligned with Cotiviti's values of Collaboration, Openness, Accountability, and Customer - Driven.
Responsibilities
Leads the assigned team with the partnership of Senior Leadership. This individual operates autonomously with independent judgment and has the ability to review and approve operational functions within the team.
- Hire, develop, coach, lead and retain top-tier talent, with a focus on building and improving a team and culture that is able to assist in employing best-in-class practices to support and drive high levels of internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Performs time management reviews for Payroll processing utilizing a time management system, ensuring employees are working an approved schedule by leadership, applying necessary time off codes, and adhering to Company Policies for timely approval.
- Performs performance management of employees to ensure employees are meeting and achieving work expectations and deliverables.
- Performs goal planning and distribution, 30/ 60/ 90-day onboarding reviews for new hires and/or individuals newly promoted in a role, performance review check-ins and annual performance reviews.
- Participates in assigned leadership training as assigned as well as enhances individual leadership skills by participating in LinkedIn Learning self-directed sessions.
- Creates and maintains standard operating procedures as well as training manuals and materials.
- Provides mentorship and guidance to team members through coaching, training and/or 1:1s.
- Completes bi - weekly or monthly 1:1 meetings/team meetings with team members to review individual and team performance.
- Participates in functional leadership presentations for townhalls, clients and/or other projects as assigned, internally and externally.
- A subject matter expert on all levels of work scope and clients reporting into Team Lead.
- Ensures adherence to departmental budget by managing resources and over time while staying in budget
- Acts as an escalation point for teams, supporting all customers to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
- Manages operational workflows; meet internal and external SLA's (Service Level Agreements).
- Provides reports and updates to management as assigned or requested.
- Supports and administers various departmental and corporate policies consistent with the company's core values and competencies.
- Ensures all processes meet HIPAA and Government security requirements with regards to sharing/storing PHI (Personal Health Information).
- Develops and maintains work procedures, schedules, and workflow.
- Recommends process improvements.
- Organizes and leads team meetings.
- Ensures confidentiality and security of all data, adhering to all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) laws and requirements. Demonstrates the skills, knowledge, and ability to ensure that our environment is a safe one, complying with industry standards.
- Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal setting.
- Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5+ years related experience (Subrogation, healthcare billing, healthcare/medical claims, reimbursement, analytics, recovery, paralegal, adjusting)
- Experience in a Legal office of 3+ years preferred; paralegal or legal assistant and/or experience in the insurance industry (casualty or health insurance)
- Experience with leading teams of at least 5+ individuals a plus
- For internal promotional opportunities, senior specialists would be eligible and/or Cotiviti employees with 4 years of experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required
- Basic computer proficiency required (typing, ability to navigate various websites)
- Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues, problems, or opportunities
- Ability to interpret data/reporting to recognize trends
- Ability to perform presentations with good quality
- Ability to work independently to meet objectives
- Ability to perform well in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to be thorough and detailed in all aspects of the role

- Working knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security rules

- Working knowledge of Subrogation industry required
- Ability to interpret an Explanation of Benefits (EOB), UB-04, Form 5500, Summary Plan Description (SPD), Master Plan Document (MPD), Evidence of Coverage (EOC) required.

- Medicaid and/or Medicare knowledge required
- Ability to organize information to be shared to parties as required

- Ability to mentor staff and enhance performance as it relates to the quality and productivity of individuals
- Ability to effectively manage teams of up to 12 people by ensuring all team members are meeting/exceeding productivity and quality standards while addressing any employee-related concerns.
- Ability to operate with strong personnel management skills to motivate staff and take corrective action when necessary.
- Ability to perform well in team environment, with staff at all levels, to achieve business goals
- Ability to handle pressure and with deadline-oriented project demands as well as manage multiple initiatives.
- Ability to troubleshoot existing applications.
- Ability to perform calculations, problem solve and use reasoning.
- Ability to apply existing knowledge of health care marketplace including commercial and government insurance health plan organizations and HIPAA guidelines with their associated security requirements
- Ability to work proficiently with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.

Base compensation ranges from $55,000 to $65,000 per year. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs. This role is eligible for discretionary bonus consideration.
