The Bridges and Structures Practice is seeking a motivated CAD Technician Intern who is eager to learn and contribute to a collaborative environment. This is a great opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience supporting the design and construction of transportation structures - including bridges, retaining walls, and more.

You'll work alongside experienced engineers and designers, using industry-leading tools and software to help bring real-world infrastructure projects to life.

This six-month-long internship will be located in our Salem, OR office.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the production of CAD drawings, layouts, and graphics for transportation structures such as reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel designs
  • Support the development of construction documents by incorporating engineering markups with guidance from senior staff
  • Use design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OpenRoads Designer to create and modify drawings
  • Learn and apply industry standards (e.g., AASHTO) under the direction of licensed engineers
  • Help maintain organized drawing files and adhere to company and project-specific drafting standards
  • Collaborate with team members using file-sharing platforms such as ProjectWise
  • Participate in quality checks and assist with updates to drawings and quantities as projects evolve
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Exposure to CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, OpenRoads, or Civil 3D through coursework or academic projects
  • Basic understanding of drafting principles and engineering drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate degree in Civil Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • Experience with construction practices and industry terms like bid items, specifications, and design standards
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism through work quality, reliability, and initiative
