About This Position

The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing inventory accuracy, availability, and control within the distribution center. This role serves as the primary liaison for inventory-related policies, procedures, and execution, ensuring compliance with corporate standards while supporting operational efficiency, customer service, and financial accuracy.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Core Responsibilities:
    • Oversee all inventory management processes to ensure high inventory accuracy, availability, and cycle count compliance.
    • Maintain alignment between system inventory (Oracle/WMS) and physical inventory through investigation and resolution of variances.
    • Monitor and correct negative inventory, lot issues, FIFO compliance, and inventory rotation.
    • Ensure proper handling of expired, obsolete, damaged, donated, and discarded inventory.
    • Manage Min/Max settings for pick locations and KCN arenas to support replenishment requirements.
  • Reconciliation & Exception Management:
    • Research and resolve discrepancies related to inventory transfers, purchase orders, and delayed receipts.
    • Review open transfers and purchase orders daily to ensure timely and accurate system closure.
    • Address shipping errors and transfer discrepancies with both source and destination locations.
    • Review and submit Vendor Order Adjustments (VOA).
    • Oversee inventory returns, buybacks, and disposition processes.
  • Reporting & KPIs
    • Own inventory-related KPIs including:
      • Inventory Accuracy
      • Inventory Availability / Out-of-Stocks
      • Cycle Count Compliance
      • Physical Inventory Results
      • Donate / Discard Metrics
    • Create and distribute daily out-of-stock and delayed receipt reports.
    • Analyze trends and lead corrective actions to prevent recurring inventory issues.
  • Cycle Counting & Physical Inventory
    • Manage daily cycle count execution, compliance, and follow-up.
    • Lead planning, preparation, execution, and post-count reconciliation for the annual physical inventory.
    • Drive corrective actions resulting from PI and cycle count findings.
    • Coordinate cycle count timing and scope to minimize operational disruption.
  • Product Transitions & Menu Management
    • Oversee all product transitions, menu changes, and new item introductions.
    • Coordinate with Purchasing, warehouse teams, onsite commissary managers, and KCN Corporate on menu issues and discrepancies.
    • Research, communicate, and resolve system or menu-related inventory problems.
  • Leadership & Cross-Functional Support
    • Manage and develop inventory administrative staff responsible for replenishment, cycle counts, product transitions, and reporting.
    • Train warehouse and onsite personnel on inventory processes, best practices, and system usage.
    • Serve as the primary escalation point for inventory-related issues.
    • Partner with Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and Corporate Inventory teams to drive alignment and results.
  • Compliance & Process Improvement
    • Ensure compliance with company inventory policies, procedures, and audit standards.
    • Identify inventory process gaps and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Support safety, shrink prevention, and loss reduction efforts within the warehouse.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of inventory control experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment (food & sundries preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of Oracle Inventory and Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Proven experience leading teams and driving accountability.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and operational discipline.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends during peak periods as required.
  • Forklift use will be required for this position, experience preferred, will train.
