The Role:

The individual in this position provides leadership across the ministry and is responsible for:



  • Providing leadership of departmental operations
  • Providing leadership for educational and professional development activities for caregivers across the ministry
  • Providing consistent departmental input, implementation, and evaluation of standardized ministry, servicearea, regional, and system educational programs and initiatives
  • Developing strategy and implementing tactical plans for achieving and maintaining Pathway or Magnet recognition
  • Directing the organization's Pathway/Magnet process as the onsite resource for the ANCC recognition program


This role plays a critical part in advancing professional nursing practice, clinical inquiry, and a culture of excellence aligned with organizational values and regulatory expectations.

What You'll Do:

Leadership



  • Lead the daily operations of the Education department, providing direction, coaching, and mentoring to staff.
  • Create and monitor the ministryfocused Education and Professional Practice budget in collaboration with Service Area and Regional leaders .


Education & Professional Development



  • Provide caregiver educational opportunities across the facility based on learning needs assessments, patient care requirements, regulatory needs, and regional standardization.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of regional education and professional development programs, including orientation, competency assessment, inservice education, and continuing professional development.
  • Evaluate satisfaction, effectiveness, and clinical impact of educational programs .


Magnet / Pathway Recognition



  • Develop strategy and tactical plans for achieving and retaining Pathway/Magnet recognition.
  • Direct the ministry's Pathway/Magnet process as the onsite ANCC resource.
  • Colead the ministrybased Pathway/Magnet leadership structure with the CNO, supported by servicearea and regional resources .


EvidenceBased Practice (EBP)



  • Influence a culture of clinical inquiry using evidence to inform quality initiatives, practice improvements, and generation of new knowledge through research.
  • Develop mentors to lead EBP teams in support of clinical inquiry initiatives .


Shared Governance



  • Facilitate the development, education, implementation, support, outcomes, and evaluation of ministrybased shared governance.


Collaboration



  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with ministry and regional leaders, external agencies, academic partners, and interprofessional partners by fostering open communication.


Regulatory Support



  • Partner with ministry and nursing leaders to design and implement improvements that support regulatory requirements through educational activities.
  • Contribute to the development of regional policies, procedures, and guidelines related to education and professional practice.


What You'll Bring:

Education & Licensure



  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
  • Master's Degree in Nursing required - if the master's degree is not in nursing education or education, a postmaster's certificate in nursing education is strongly preferred upon hire or within four years
  • California Registered Nurse License (required upon hire)
  • Membership in at least one nationally recognized professional nursing organization (required upon hire)


Experience



  • 2+ years of experience in nursing education
  • 3+ years of experience in an acute care setting
  • 2+ years of experience in a nursing management or leadership role
  • Leadership experience achieving initial or redesignation as a Magnet facility (preferred)


Leadership & Clinical Expertise



  • Knowledge of current nursing practice
  • Demonstrated expertise in nursing management and leadership
  • Ability to perform learning needs assessments and develop learning objectives aligned with organizational goals
  • Knowledge of educational theories, adult and lifelong learning principles, critical thinking strategies, and evidence implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or colead largescale initiatives and projects
  • Ability to build relationships and influence outcomes in a highly matrixed, complex environment


Professional Capabilities



  • Ability to operate effectively in environments with constrained financial resources
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Learning Management Systems (HealthStream)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
  • ANCC Magnet standards, application, monitoring, and redesignation (highly preferred)
  • Leading Magnetfocused committees (highly preferred)
  • Facilitating shared governance (highly preferred)

The full pay range is listed in accordance with applicable law. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, organizational compensation alignment, and the approved hiring department budget for the position. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation and benefits.
