Core Banking Architect - Build the Future of Banking
Are you ready to own the engine that powers an entire bank? We're looking for a Core Banking Architect who thrives at the intersection of strategy, systems, and innovation. This is not just a technical role it's a mission-critical leadership position where you'll shape how money moves, customers interact, and the business grows. What You'll Do
As our lead technical authority for the FIS ecosystem, you'll take full ownership of the core banking platform that drives everything from customer transactions to regulatory reporting.
Architect the Backbone
- Own and evolve the FIS IBS core banking platform, Teller Insight, and integrated systems
- Design scalable architectures, data models, and integrations that power critical banking operations
- Maintain system integrity through documentation like system maps, APIs, and data dictionaries
Connect the Ecosystem
- Lead integrations between core banking and fintech, digital banking, and third-party platforms
- Build robust frameworks for data transformation, error handling, and real-time messaging
Influence Strategy at the Highest Level
- Present platform strategies, risks, and recommendations directly to senior and executive leadership
- Help shape technology investments and long-term architecture decisions
Own the Vendor Relationship
- Act as the Bank's senior technical representative with FIS
- Drive roadmap planning, contract discussions, and service delivery outcomes
Drive Execution & Innovation
- Lead major core banking initiatives from concept to post-production
- Solve complex, cross-functional problems with no playbook
- Evaluate and onboard new technologies and vendor solutions
Ensure Compliance & Resilience
- Align systems with regulatory standards (BSA/AML, GLBA, Reg E, FFIEC)
- Lead audit readiness, disaster recovery planning, and incident response
- Partner with Information Security on access and data governance
Elevate the Team
- Mentor team members and share deep platform expertise
- Guide best practices and communicate system updates across the organization
What You Bring
You're not just experienced you're the person others rely on when things get complicated.
Experience
- 7+ years in systems architecture, application engineering, or core banking within a financial institution
- Deep, hands-on expertise with:
- FIS IBS core banking
- Teller Insight
- FIS ecosystem tools (Digital One, GOLD, AML Manager, etc.)
- Proven success designing complex integrations (APIs, real-time messaging, flat-file)
- Experience advising senior leadership on technology strategy and risk
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of banking operations (deposits, loans, ACH, wires, cards)
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (BSA/AML, GLBA, FFIEC, Reg E)
- Experience supporting audits and working within compliance environments
Technical Skills
- SQL, relational databases, reporting tools (e.g., Crystal Reports)
- API development (REST/SOAP) and integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft)
- ITIL practices, incident/change management
- Enterprise systems, security, and infrastructure fundamentals
