Job Description

The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing all technical aspects associated with the development of products for motion control and industrial automation applications. This includes the design, prototyping, qualification, certification, and production launch of new products. The Project Engineer will lead a team of engineers and other professionals to ensure timely completion and high-quality execution of the technical aspects of a project.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the technical aspects of engineering projects, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and project timelines

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project team members

  • Work with contract manufacturers to introduce designs into production on schedule, including leading creation of test specifications and collaboration on test equipment

  • Coordinate with contract manufacturers, vendors, and stakeholders as needed to ensure project success

  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring project deliverables meet or exceed quality standards

  • Lead and execute prototype / sample builds and product validation efforts

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to resolve issues

  • Create and maintain project documentation, including drawings, models, and specifications

  • Review and edit technical drawings for accuracy and completeness

  • Work with geographically distributed design and manufacturing teams, and travel to domestic and international design and manufacturing locations when necessary

  • Additional technical processes and documentation responsibilities include:

    • Leading Design FMEA Activities

    • Creating and Managing Project Test Plans

    • Creating and Reviewing Test Reports

    • Creating and Managing Prototype Control Plans

    • Creating Specifications and Proof of Compliance Documents

    • Creating and Managing New Product Development Bill of Materials

    • Creating and Managing Engineering Change Orders

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 3+ years in electrical engineering or related field

  • Familiarity with electronic control design, validation and production

  • Development experience with low voltage DC motor control electronics is a plus

  • Experience using MS Suite

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines

  • Competency in Altium, Cadence or other electrical engineering CAD software

Travel:

  • Approximately 10% domestic and international travel.
