Workiva is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join our Legal team as a key strategic partner for global B2B SaaS transactions and go-to-market initiatives. In this role, you will lead the structuring and negotiation of Workiva's most complex, high-impact commercial agreements while driving the evolution of our global contracting standards. You will operate as a high-level individual contributor and trusted advisor to functional leadership, helping to shape pragmatic, scalable contracting approaches that support company-wide scalability.

What You'll Do

  • Drive the strategy, structuring, and negotiation of high-complexity commercial agreements, including global SaaS subscriptions, strategic partnerships, and emerging technology addendums

  • Execute end-to-end negotiation processes for "significantly ambiguous" deals, balancing long-term corporate strategy with immediate revenue goals

  • Advise functional and operational leaders on systemic legal risks related to cloud technology, including IP strategy, global data privacy frameworks, AI governance, and revenue recognition

  • Translate global legal and regulatory requirements into pragmatic, company-wide guidance that influences long-term direction and operational compliance

  • Partner cross-functionally to lead formal networks with key decision-makers, ensuring legal initiatives are integrated into the broader business ecosystem

  • Innovate and enhance legal operations by designing scalable workflows and sophisticated contracting playbooks that improve functional efficiency

  • Communicate with diplomacy and persuasion to resolve sensitive conflicts and facilitate mutual agreement among senior stakeholders

  • Mentor and provide technical direction to professional-level staff and peers across the legal function to elevate the team's collective expertise

  • Anticipate industry trends and market shifts to contribute to the company's strategic positioning within the B2B SaaS landscape

What You'll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and member in good standing of a State Bar Association

  • 10 years of related commercial legal experience, with a proven track record in complex B2B SaaS transactions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep subject matter expertise in software, SaaS, or cloud technology evolution

  • Experience with public sector contracting (Federal, SLED, or GSA) and highly regulated industries

  • Prior experience in an Am Law 100 firm or a high-growth, global enterprise environment

  • Recognized internal or external "thought leader" status in commercial law, data security, or privacy

  • Proven ability to strategize on the integration of cross-functional capabilities to solve complex business problems

Travel Requirements & Working Conditions

  • 25% travel for customer and internal meetings

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office

How You'll Be Rewarded

Salary range in the US: $177,000.00 - $284,000.00

A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
