Under supervision of the ACC5 Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the Clinical Nursing Staff, the Medical Assistants assist in the delivery of care to patients in Heart & Vascular Center ambulatory group practices. Work includes a performing and assisting with a variety of clinical procedures, reconciling patient's medications and communicating health care maintenance reminders to assure positive care outcomes. S/he will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the primary or specialty care services provided to patients within the practices. S/he is required to learn and be able to assist in all of the Heart & Vascular Services including Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, CT surgery, Pre Heart & Lung Transplant and Mechanical Support Services.
Required Qualifications :

* Active American Heart Association CPR certification
* Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program
* Experience working in a busy clinic setting
* Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
* One year of experience working in a healthcare setting
* The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required

Preferred Qualifications :

* Bilingual/multilingual
* California State CPT-1 certification
* Experience with insurance verification, medical record data abstraction or patient financial services
* One year of Medical Assisting (MA) experience

License/Certification :

* Current American Heart Association CPR certification
* Current Medical Assisting certification

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
