This position is responsible for assisting the Clinical Director with all aspects of the operation, including but not limited to 1) recruiting, selecting, hiring and training staff, coaching and counseling, and completion of performance evaluations 2) assuring compliance with all regulatory and patient safety goals, 3) developing and implementing policies and procedures that assure a high level of quality care, 4) supports performance improvement initiatives and 5) maintains close working relationship with other departments to ensure alignment of goals that meet patient safety and service standards, 6) supports management team cross-coverage needs (like infusion RN manager). This position supports the Clinical Director in supervising all clinical staff of the practice clinic, facilitating positive interaction among staff, patients, and other departments. This position assumes full responsibility for the unit in the areas delegated and in the absence of the Patient Care Manager.

Required qualifications:

  • A minimum of three (3) years clinical RN experience in an ambulatory oncology setting
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and self-development within the field of nursing and nursing administration
  • Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a clinic(s) / center(s). Strong knowledge of practice operations
  • In depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations and internal policies
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaborations and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration and consistent achievement of objectives
  • Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate work functions efficiently

Preferred qualifications:

  • ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card, OCN or other related certification
  • Master's degree
  • Two years supervisory or demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience using EPIC EMR systems
  • Experience with QA/The Joint Commission process for quality improvement
  • Knowledge of current and emerging best practices and technologies in the clinic / center healthcare industry
  • Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters

License and Certification:

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
