Works under the direction of the Adult Cardiac Catheterization & Electrophysiology Unit Director to function as a member of the procedural team by assisting in the pre-, intra-, and post-procedural care of patients undergoing Electrophysiology/Cardiac Catheterization, structural heart, and/or Vascular procedures. Independently performs radiological duties during these procedures and troubleshoots as required. Works closely with the UCSF Radiation Safety Officer to monitor and maintain radiation protocols. Responsible for radiation safety in the department, to include radiation safety training of current staff and fellows.

Assists Cardiovascular Technologist IV with maintenance of equipment in collaboration with the Biomedical Engineer. Also assists CVT IV with ensuring the adequate supply of stock in collaboration with Materials Management team members. Responsibilities may include scrubbing-in for the surgical portion of the procedure, circulating within the procedure room to organize and perform the non-sterile portions of the procedure, documenting on the GE Mac/Cardio lab systems, and operating the radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment to produce the images of the procedure. The Cath/EP Technologist must be able to work safely in an acute care setting and be able to interact accordingly with anesthesia and other patient care departments who perform duties within the Cardiac Cath & EP environment. Additionally, the Cath/EP Technologist must be willing to train and interact with students and new hires when necessary. This position also requires participation in the call rotation, and willingness to orient and train to all areas of the department as needed.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $79.46 hr to 98.81 hr (depending on experience).

  • Minimum two (2) years' Radiologic Technician experience in Cardiac Cath/EP labs or OR/Hybrid OR Interventional Radiology lab
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • Flexibility in scheduling with ability to rotate shifts and coverage for weekends and holidays
  • Willingness to participate in the call rotation as directed by departmental needs
  • California Certified Radiologic Technologist License (CRT)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • California State Fluoroscopy Permit
  • American Heart Association BLS
  • American Heart Association ACLS

Preferred:

  • RCIS
  • ARRT VI or ARRT CI
  • Experience with GE Maclab/Cardiolab
  • Hybrid OR experience
  • Previous work experience with Phillips and/or Siemens Fluoroscopy equipment
  • Previous work experience using personal computer applications
